Hypnotherapy to quit vaping works on the habit side of vaping: the automatic reach for the vape when you are stressed, bored, driving or scrolling. In a calm, focused state you rehearse a different response to those moments, and you leave each session with a simple plan for cravings. It is not a magic switch, and it works best alongside the other quit supports in Australia, such as Quitline (13 78 48), your GP or your pharmacist.

Why vaping is so hard to put down

Vaping is often harder to quit than people expect, for three reasons:

  • It is always there. There is no lighting up and no going outside. The vape sits in your pocket, so you can take a puff a hundred times a day without noticing.
  • Nicotine plus habit. Many vapes contain nicotine, so there is a physical pull. On top of that sits a habit loop: a cue (coffee, the car, a message, stress), the routine (a puff) and a quick reward (a moment of relief).
  • No clear end point. A cigarette finishes. A vape does not, so there is no natural stop in the day.

The physical side of nicotine withdrawal usually eases over the first few weeks. The habit side, the "I always vape when..." moments, is where many people slip, and that is where hypnotherapy can help.

How hypnotherapy can support you to quit vaping

In sessions at Neuro Reset Studio we:

  • map your triggers and the "reward" each puff gives you, such as a break, calm or something to do with your hands
  • use hypnotherapy to rehearse your top three trigger moments, calmly, without the vape
  • link a calm, steady feeling to a simple cue you can use when a craving hits
  • use NLP coaching to change the self-talk, such as "just one puff" or "I can't handle this without it"
  • build a realistic replacement plan for the first two weeks, with WhatsApp support between sessions

You stay awake, aware and in control the whole time. Nothing happens that you have not agreed to. For the step by step, read what happens in a hypnotherapy session.

Three things you can try today

  1. Notice your top three triggers. For one day, each time you reach for the vape, note where you are and what you feel. Most people find a few moments account for most puffs.
  2. Ride one craving with long exhales. Breathe in for 4, out for 6 to 8, five times. Cravings rise and fall, often within a few minutes.
  3. Move the vape. Put it in a bag or another room instead of your pocket. A small gap gives you a moment to choose.

How many sessions do people need?

Many people book a short program rather than one session, so there is time to practise between sessions in real life. Our Habit Rewire Program is 4 sessions, a week or two apart, in person in Berwick or online. Some people add a follow-up session later. More on this in how many hypnotherapy sessions you might need.

How much does it cost?

The Habit Rewire Program is $590 for 4 sessions, with WhatsApp support between sessions and a practice plan for home. A single session is $170. Your first session is $60, and if you don't feel it was worth it, you pay nothing. You pay after each session, by PayID, and there is a concession for students, pensioners and anyone doing it tough. Use it alongside other quit supports

Hypnotherapy is complementary support. It works well next to:

  • Quitline (13 78 48). Free phone coaching across Australia.
  • Your GP or pharmacist. They can talk you through nicotine replacement and other quit options, and what suits your health. In Australia, vapes are now meant to be sold only through pharmacies as a quit aid, so your pharmacist is a good person to ask.
  • Someone you trust. Telling one person your quit date makes it easier to ask for help on a hard day.

If you are pregnant, have a heart condition or take regular medication, talk to your GP before you quit nicotine.

Is it right for you?

Hypnotherapy to quit vaping may suit you if you want to stop, you have tried before and slipped at the same moments, and you would like a practical plan rather than willpower alone. Your motivation matters, and results vary from person to person. If you are a parent worried about a teen who vapes, a free consultation is a good place to talk it through.
